Sunday Forum: End of Life Issues (Parish Hall, 9:15 a.m.)

In October, we will focus on how we end our lives. Regardless of our age, we have all experienced the loss of someone we love – friend, parent, child, spouse. The Forum series on end of life issues will approach this through mind, body, and spirit and give us all food for thought as well as practical information.

Discovering the Bible: A New Generation (Sept 12)

Have you ever been embarrassed by not knowing enough about the Bible? Lots of Episcopalians are! Here’s your chance to learn more about the people, places and stories of the Bible – a way to find where The Story intersects with Your Story. Beginning September 12, in the Conference Room. Fr. Danny will lead a new class, Discovering the Bible: A New Generation, on Sunday mornings at 9:15. The resource book for the 30-lesson course is available in the church office for $30 (scholarships are available).

The Church Year: Exploring our Sacred Calendar (Sept 19)

Join Fr. Carey on a four week romp through the drama of our salvation referred to as the “Church Year.” Learn what the colors, symbols and seasons are all about and why this is important for every disciple of Jesus Christ to understand. The class will commence Sunday, September 19 at 9:15 a.m. upstairs in the Willcox building.

What’s Your Love Language? (Sept 19)

This four-week class, led by Luke Gilbert, will be using Gary Chapman’s book, The Five Love Languages. This class is open to adults of all ages. If you would like to understand how love language affects your relationship with God, yourself, and others, join them in the Java Loft beginning September 19 at 9:15 a.m.

Sunday Morning Book Study: Paul Tillich’s The Dynamics of Faith (Sept 12)

Dynamics of Faith is a primer in the philosophy of religion. Paul Tillich, a leading theologian of the twentieth century, explores the idea of faith in all its dimensions, while defining the concept in the process. This class meets in the Library at 9:00 a.m.

Other Classes offered during the 2009 year:

BIBLE / BOOK STUDY.  Making Sense of Paul. This study, an introduction to the book of Romans and Pauline theology,  will be led by Fr. Danny.  It will meet in the Conference Room.

BOOK STUDY.  Eternal Life:  A New Vision:  Beyond Religion, Beyond Theism, Beyond Heaven and Hell, by John Shelby Spong.  This class meets in the church office.

BOOK STUDY.  The Embraceable Mystery:  God. This Bible and book  study for young adults builds community while examining how God has been present through the ages.  They will meet in the Library.

BOOK STUDY.   Your Children Are Under Attack:  How Popular Culture is Destroying Your Kid’s Values and How You Can Protect Them.    This class will focus on the ways in which modern media-driven culture is at odds with our Christian values.  It will meet in the Java Loft of the Willcox Building.
