Sunday, April 30, come for the music at 5:00, and then, stay for the BBQ! Rejoice in the Lamb, an anthem by Benjamin Britten will form the centerpiece of the Festival Choral Evensong Sunday, April 30. Britten, a renowned 20th century composer, was very taken with a poem by an eighteenth century religious enthusiast, Christopher Smart, inspired by the poet’s cat chasing a mouse. Britten gave immortality to Smart’s verse with a choral classic. After Evensong we will Rejoice in the Pig with a special barbecue in the Parish Hall or, if the weather is fine, in the garden. We invite you and your family to be part of this special occasion, capping a day on which we celebrate our musicians and the role of music in our liturgy.
