The St. Mark’s Story

The Little Red Schoolhouse

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church  first met on a cold January day, the Feast of the Epiphany, 1952, at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Law.   Eighteen people gathered at this first service, and there St. Mark’s  took life.  Soon there were too many members to fit in homes, and Sunday School and worship services were held in The Little Red School House.  From this beginning, when “chair men” literally set up the chairs for each service, St. Mark’s became alive with the energy of a new community.

Today, when you enter the life at St. Mark’s, you’ll feel the same energy. The Holy Spirit is the spark that animates our church family—made manifest in the worship, music and service we hold so dear, and strive to perfect.

We want you to share in this energy. In God’s grand design, love is the only thing that grows when you give it away. There’s an abundance of God’s love at St. Mark’s. We offer it to you, and together, we grow.
