If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, consider joining the St. Mark’s Knitters Guild.

The Guild was formed in September 2005 as a prayer shawl ministry.  While members knit or crochet beautiful shawls, they pray for the recipients. The shawls are then blessed at the altar during a worship service, and are given to parishioners who have a serious illness or death in the family.

Since its beginning, the ministry has given more than 40 prayer shawls, thereby knitting our parishioners together in a very tangible way.

Outside our parish, the Knitters Guild has contributed hundreds of caps for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, as well as red scarves for the Orphan Foundation of America’s Red Scarf Project.

The 25 women currently in the Guild meet on the first Monday of each month at 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall parlor, but members don’t have to attend these meetings to belong to the group.

This ministry is a joy for those who knit and pray, as well as those who receive the shawls and other items.
