See our Ministry Guide for a complete listing of ministry opportunities offered through St. Mark’s.
Great peace and joy can be found in the simple act of helping others. Many people find a deepened relationship with Christ through this work.
You don’t have to look far to find people you can help. You can pitch in after work and on weekends to help improve the lives of others.
Here are some ways you can be more involved in our community through St. Mark’s:
Habitat for Humanity St. Mark’s parishioners have been involved with Habitat in various capacities over the past several years. We have built a house, helped others build houses and provided food for those doing the building. We anticipate being part of upcoming efforts.
Family Promise Four times a year, for a week at a time, St. Mark’s partners with First United Methodist Church to host a family in need through Family Promise. Families are housed and take their morning and evening meals at another participating church’s facilities. At 7:00 a.m. families are picked up at the church to go about their routine. Saturday is a fun day–-families and their hosts have gone to the movies, museums and the zoo.
St. Mark’s provides cooks, overnight hosts and Saturday volunteers. Cooks are invited to stay for dinner, as are our overnight hosts. Families and hosts have their own separate bedrooms.
St. Francis House St. Mark’s members are deeply involved with St. Francis House. Some of our members answer phones in their offices, translate in the medical clinic, sort clothing and do whatever else needs doing. A Christmas holiday highlight for many St. Mark’s families and individuals is the annual creation and delivery of hundreds of food and gift baskets to families in need.
