Journey in Faith: The Catechumenate is for those wanting to become more involved at St. Mark’s, for those wishing to be confirmed or baptized, and for those wanting to deepen their faith. It is also for those who have never been part of a church, those who are returning to church after a long absence, or those who have belonged to another faith tradition. It is the heart of Saint Mark’s formation process for adults, an exploration of what it means to be a Christian in the Episcopal tradition.
“Catechumenate” may be hard to pronounce (kat-uh-KEW-meh-nut) and harder to spell. The name comes from Greek words meaning “teach by telling” and “learn by hearing” and ultimately from the word “echo.”
The evening class includes a simple snack and a brief time of fellowship followed by a presentation. Following the presentation, small groups will break out to discuss what they have heard.
The class meets Tuesday evenings from September 6 through mid December. There is no cost to participate. Child care is open from 6:15 – 8:15 pm on Tuesdays in the Nursery for all ages. For more information, contact Parish Secretary, Linda Walker.
