Sunday School Classes for Children & Youth
Classes for children ages three through high school are held Sunday mornings from 9:15 until 10:15 from September through May. During the summer schedule (June-August) all ages meet in the Children’s Chapel for One Room classes. This means that children ages 3 through 5th grade gather in the Children’s Chapel for a Bible story and worship during large-group time, then divide into small-group breakout activities. Nursery care for infants and toddlers is available during Sunday School and morning worship.
Backyard Kids! (3-4 year olds) This class meets downstairs in the Willcox building. Backyard Kids is an introductory class for young children which explores Bible stories appropriate to each season of the Church year. This is a first step in their understanding of the Bible and how our church can be an important part of their lives.
Deep Blue (K-5th graders) This class meets upstairs in the Willcox building. Dive deep into God’s word with Deep Blue! The lessons use exciting stories, science experiments, arts and crafts, animated storytelling, and active games to help kids discover ways to let the Bible speak to them today.
Feasting on the Word (6-12th Grades) The lessons encourage participants to explore and reflect on the “big ideas” and themes of faith through community building, storytelling, discussion, ritual prayer and refelction experiences. This group meets in the EYC Center.
Confirmation As part of Christian Formation, youth are invited to learn more about their faith and make a commitment to their membership in St. Mark’s and the larger, Episcopal Church, through Confirmation. Here is the form to be used in that process. Youth Confirmation
